Sculptor and coppersmith, Hervé Wahlen uses traditional coppersmithing techniques, modifying and updating them to create mysterious pieces inspired by ancient Egyptian art: it was the 1967 Tutankhamun exhibition at the Petit Palais that was his first artistic crush. He has been practising since 1983, and notably collaborated with the Peruvian artist Fabian Sanchez to create a monumental work for the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988.

The Invisible Collection and Mobilier national partner to promote contemporary creation and present limited-edition designs. Mobilier national is a major institution for contemporary creation and the promotion of French decorative arts, whose mission has been to ensure, since the seventeenth century, the conservation and restoration of unique collections in the world. Mobilier national has broadened its scope by launching an annual “Campagne d’Acquisition” to support creativity and to integrate these pieces into the national collections. These works are then exhibited in institutional buildings. Thanks to this unprecedented partnership, a selection of contemporary furniture revealed by the Mobilier national’s 2021 “Campagne d’Acquisition” is available for purchase: Collectors will be able to acquire furniture that has been included in the official collections, and is available in limited edition on Invisible Collection.

The Torsion 2021 lamp is the latest piece in the designer’s collection of designer lights. Handcrafted, the Torsion lamp is a brass loop covered in moon gold leaf, an iridescent hue that contrasts with the warmer copper highlights on the inside of the torsion.
