The Set of 6 Macarons by Pia Chevalier x French Cliché is a cheeky interpretation of one of France’s favourite biscuits. Who hasn’t hesitated for minutes on end unable to choose between a pistachio and a raspberry macaron, to end up having both? These hollow-shaped macarons can be used as a salt and pepper dispenser or as a tiny sauce dish. Macarons, croissants, mille-feuilles, Paris-Brest… So many sweet French pastries names that lead us to a French bakery: Pia Chevalier creates functional objects inspired by the shape of yummy, delicious treats. Teapots, knife holders, saucers and timpani reinvent the notion of ‘goûter’, the French equivalent of teatime, which also means to taste… Bon appétit!
Founded in 2020 by Emily Marant and Hugo Matha, French Cliché is a label and a nomadic gallery. Within the past year, the duo has selected over 30 young artists and designers to think about French culture and produce exclusive designs inspired by it. Every piece is developed thanks to the collaboration between emerging talents and renowned craftsmen who symbolize French excellence. The artisans’ unique crafts provide new solutions and techniques to young creatives, who in turn bring their fresh vision to ancestral know-how.
