The Chair – Folding Screen Verdurin by Anthony Guerrée is inspired by the Proustian character of Sidonie Verdurin. In a passage from “À La Recherche du Temps Perdu”, Marcel Proust highlights the sensual relationship maintained by Madame Verdurin with her furniture. Indeed, Sidonie Verdurin once invited Swann to “peloter – fondle” the small bronzes in her Beauvais armchair. In direct reference to this famous passage, the “Verdurin” solid cedar chair-screen is adorned with hammered bronze brass spheres that invite touching.
