Inspired by the harder geometric lines of art deco, our lacquered mahogany veneer nightstands pay homage to this period through form and materiality. The utilization of lacquer, with origins that date back centuries, is a material demanding of both skill and time. Layers are laboriously laid upon one another curing for long periods to achieve its characteristic hard slick surface. While hard to the touch, the material lends softness through the manner in which it coats edges and catches light. Our nightstands are outfitted with a lockable drawer adorned with aged brass hardware and accent silk key tassel.
Los Angeles-based Interior Designer Courtney Applebaum was initially drawn to architecture and interior design as she saw these worlds as arenas for self-expression and beauty. Established in 2011, her studio is dedicated to creating spaces that brim with purpose and individuality through a mix of design periods, furniture styles and unexpected materials. Curated eclecticism that naturally evokes a minimalist mood is the hallmark of each project.
